“You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.” – Woodrow Wilson
What is The Intern Group, what are our values and where do we see ourselves in the world today?
We are driven by a strong social mission. We want to develop an innovative and culturally sensitive new generation ready to address the issues that affect the world today and tomorrow. We have a firmly internationalist outlook, and aim to promote global cooperation.
Given that we have programs all over the world, it would be an understatement to say that we’re a diverse organization. That being said, there are four values that unite our global team and are at the core of every decision that we make: People Focus, Teamwork, Continuous Learning and Global Leadership.
The essence of our program is to promote inter-cultural understanding. It is the reason we exist. The Intern Group program also delivers tangible, accelerated professional development. We enable young people to gain invaluable experience in their chosen industry, in an exciting city, in a new country. It is this framework of experiencing different cultures and different ways of life that leads to greater tolerance and acceptance.
Our program is a short-term (our average program length is just over eight weeks), international, educational experience for those who wish to travel outside of their comfort zone, both literally and metaphorically. It is for those who wish to gain that crucial experience in their chosen industry while simultaneously learning about the way of life and culture of a different country.
Program Quality & Accessibility
We recognize that our program is a significant investment. The investment is a wise one, for we are focused on excellence. The list of universities with whom The Intern Group has partnered spreads across the globe; from the highest ranked university in Asia, The National University of Singapore, to the largest private university in Europe, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, to The University of New South Wales, a member of Australia’s elite Group of Eight institutions of higher education. Many of our university partners now incorporate our program into their degrees, awarding their students course credit and scholarships.
A quality education benefits both individuals and wider society. To increase access we had our first ever needs-based, full-ride scholarship in Summer 2015 – for a Pell Grant recipient from the United States. The scholarship included our full emerging markets program in Colombia, plus all expenses and round-trip flights. It is our aim to grow our scholarships extensively in upcoming years.
