Payment and financing
Are the internships paid?
The vast majority of internships abroad are unpaid. We look for opportunities that allow our interns to gain the best possible experience while adhering to local laws and visa restrictions. Our goal is to find the best possible internship placements that will provide our participants with real-world responsibilities and the skills they will need for the future. If a host organization offers a stipend or another form of compensation, participants are welcome to accept it, however, it is not guaranteed. The true focus is on the immense professional growth! For this reason, 88% of our interns do gain graduate-level employment within 3 months of completing their internship.
How much does the program cost?
Our programs start at under 2,000 USD. The fees vary depending on the destination and duration of the program.
When do we need to pay?
There is no fee to apply for our programs abroad. If you are accepted as an intern in one of our destinations, you'll then need to place an enrollment deposit of 800 GBP in order to confirm your place. Half of the remaining fee is then due within 30 days of enrollment, and the remaining half is due within 21 days of having your internship role confirmed.
Do you offer financial assistance or scholarships?
We believe that everyone should have access to international experiences, which is why we offer need-based and merit-based aid. For example, we offer a $500 discount for anyone who receives the Pell Grant. We also offer discounts for students at many of our partner universities. Check out our Financing page to find out which grants and scholarships you're eligible for!
What is included in every program?
We know that going abroad for an internship is a big step, which is why we help you every step of the way on your international journey. All programs include placement in a professional internship, accommodation, airport pick-up, 24/7 support from local staff and visa assistance. Before your internship begins, you'll receive a pre-trip welcome pack, as well as access to a variety of professional development tools to prepare you for your experience. If applicable, our team will also assist you with the necessary documentation to receive academic credit. When you arrive to your destination, you'll take part in a welcome orientation, as well as regular cultural and social events to help you get to know your new city and fellow interns. However, the program inclusions don't stop when your internship is over. Upon completion, each intern has a personalized career coaching session with an Alumni Success Coach. You'll also have access to our global community of professionals, and all of the networking benefits it provides!
What’s not included in the program fee?
Airfare, medical insurance, daily food and visa costs are not included in the program fees. Speak with your admissions officer about ways to finance these aspects of your experience!
I don't need housing/social activities/etc - can I just pay for what I need?
All of our programs offer an option without accommodation with the exception of: 1. London, which does not offer a non-accommodation option for June 20th or July 4th start dates. 2. Dublin does not offer the non-accommodation option for June and July start dates.
Can I live at home or a relative's house and take the housing out of the cost?
This option is available upon request in certain destinations. Please speak with your Admissions Officer about this.
What is the refund/cancellation policy?
If you are not placed in your primary or secondary career field by the placement deadline (21 days before your start date) we will refund you in full – we are confident that we will find the right organization for you.
When is the deadline to apply?
Applicants are accepted into our programs on a rolling basis. That being said, we recommend applying no later than 3 months before your desired start date for visa purposes. We do offer programs starting every month of the year, but keep in mind that starting dates do fill up far in advance. If your schedule isn't flexible, apply as early as possible! Speak with your admissions officer about the best start date for you.
How and when do we make our decisions?
We want to find the very best participants for our program, which is why we personally interview every candidate. Our expert teams evaluate each applicant to decide whether they are the right fit for our program. While academic performance is taken into account, we also value open-mindedness, a global outlook and a desire to realize your potential. We know that students and professionals alike have busy schedules and lives, so we try to get you the results of your application as soon as possible. Most applicants will hear from the admissions team within 2 to 3 business days following their interview.
I have been accepted onto the program. When is the deadline to confirm my place?
Our international internship programs are competitive. Each career field and destination has a limited number of spots, and many have long waiting lists. For these reasons, there is a deadline to confirm your place. If your program start date is within 3-4 months of your acceptance, you will have one week to confirm your participation. If your program start date is after 3-4 months of your acceptance, you have two weeks to confirm your place. If you forgo your acceptance, you will need to reapply.
How do you view re-applicants?
We have more applicants for our internship programs than places available, receiving over 30,000 applications every year. As a result of high competition, first-time applicants are given priority in our admissions process. We do not accept applications for the program within six months of a previous application. Applicants that are reapplying must demonstrate a continued commitment to their professional development, demonstrated on their CV/resume through additional academic, workplace or voluntary experience.

What is the summer program?

The internship program that I want to apply for is in my home country. Am I eligible to apply?
We understand that an internship abroad is a big step, especially if you've never left your town before. Oftentimes, a new city in your home country can provide just as big of a cultural learning opportunity for you. Applicants from the U.S. are eligible to intern in New York or California for this reason. Similarly, the same applies to interns from China seeking to gain experience in Shanghai.
About the internship
Can I see a list of employers or choose to intern at a specific company?
Because we partner with thousands of leading organizations around the world, we do not have a static list of partner companies. We have dedicated outreach teams working on our participants’ profiles in all program destinations, meaning that our list of host organizations is constantly growing and evolving. We often partner with new companies if we feel that they would be a better match for a participant. If you are accepted into our program, you are guaranteed a leading role in your primary or secondary career field. However, due to the factors listed above a specific company cannot be guaranteed. Speak with an Admissions Officer about the types of roles and organizations available in your chosen destination!
When will I find out where I am interning?
Our in-country teams will engage in a collaborative internship placement process with you and confirm your internship role around four to six weeks before your departure date.
What happens if I don't get the internship I want?
Successful applicants are guaranteed a professional internship in their primary or secondary career fields. We are highly experienced in internship placement and pride ourselves on successful matches between our participants and our host organizations. All organizations that we work with are extensively vetted to make sure they provide a rewarding internship experience for our participants. Our confidence in our program is demonstrated by our full money back guarantee - if you are not placed in your primary or secondary career fields, we will refund you in full – giving you peace of mind that you will have a fantastic internship experience abroad.
Can I speak to the destination teams before I am accepted and confirm my place in the program?
Due to the high volume of applications, our specialized program teams can only work with applicants who have formally confirmed their spot on the program.
For internships in Spain, Chile or Colombia, do I need to speak Spanish?
Although some Spanish knowledge is preferred, due to our extremely strong business links and partner firms, we are able to offer a variety of leading roles that do not have any Spanish language requirement.
How does the internship placement process work?
After making your deposit, you will speak with the placement team to start building your professional profile based on your previous work experience, academic history, and career goals. We take each participant’s feedback into consideration as well, as this is a collaborative placement process. After creating your professional profile, the placement team will then reach out to our extensive network of host organizations to find a role that best matches your profile. You will then be set up on an interview with the host organization to ensure that it is the best match on both ends. Most of our participants are successful with their very first interview because our placement team puts a lot of time and energy into ensuring that the best match is found.
What hours should I expect to work?
Internships abroad are generally full-time, intensive placements, between 35-40 hours per week. Your host organization will set your daily hours, but the majority of internships will take place between 9am and 5pm.
Will I obtain academic credit?
We work with universities around the world to assist their students with academic credit requirements. Please speak with your admissions officer about how to apply for credit!
Is attendance at the events mandatory?
All of the events and activities that we organize are optional. However, they are designed to help you get the very most out of your experience, both personally and professionally, so we always recommend attending!
Travel and accommodation
Who will I be living with?
Interns on our program have their own private bedroom, and share common spaces with other interns or international students, depending on the destination.
Can I live in the accommodation for some time before or after my internship program?
We can only guarantee housing for the duration of your internship program. If you would like to stay longer, please speak with your local program coordinator as far in advance as possible to see if there is availability for you to stay on after.
When should I book my flights?
We recommend booking flights as soon as your internship role is confirmed. This is approximately 4-6 weeks before arrival (please note in peak times this may vary).
What happens when I arrive to my internship destination?
Before you depart from your home country, you will be sent a welcome pack that gives you all the information you will need to prepare for your arrival. When you arrive you will be picked up by our trusted driver, taken to your accommodation and met by your experienced coordinator for an induction. If you arrive in your destination after 6pm local time you will meet your coordinator the following morning.
