Payments & Financing
Our mission is to facilitate accelerated professional development for international students. Whether these internships are paid or not is down to each specific placement company. However, our international internships do tend to be unpaid.
In order to confirm your place in the program, at least 50% of the outstanding balance needs to be paid within 30 days after we have received your deposit. Any remainder is due within 21 days after we have confirmed your internship role.
Notwithstanding any partial payment deadline previously given, once placement is confirmed, any and all remaining balance becomes due within 21 days. In all cases, all program fees must be paid before you travel to your program destination. Participants who fail to meet this requirement, will receive none of the benefits of the Program. This includes, without limitation; placement in a confirmed Program, airport transfers and accommodation.
If you are a college student in the USA receiving a Pell Grant, a college or university student in the UK receiving a Maintenance Grant, or a college or university student in Australia receiving Youth Allowance, you are eligible for a 500 USD discount off any of our programs.
We only offer scholarships through agreements with partner universities. We recommend speaking with your university to see if your university is a partner and what funding is available for our program. Available funding varies from partner university to partner university.
If you are an individual not from one of our partner universities please view the following links for 3rd party financial aid:

This option is available upon request in certain destinations. Please inquire with your Admissions Officer.
Your deposit is fully refundable if you are not placed in your primary or secondary career fields. If you withdraw from the program for any other reason (besides our failure to place you), you are not eligible for any refund. This includes, but is not limited to, medical, family, and academic reasons.
Please see more details on the cancellation policy below:
(a) Your initial deposit (“initial deposit”) is 600 British Pounds Sterling (abbreviated as GBP or £) regardless of destination. The initial deposit is for the sole purpose of reserving your position in the program and covering certain related administrative expenses. Upon receiving your initial deposit, The Intern Group agrees to place you in an internship by the placement deadline.
(b) Upon payment of your initial deposit, you agree to fully co-operate with The Intern Group in its attempts to find you a placement and agree to do so until the passing of the placement deadline. Examples of non-cooperation include, but are not limited to, not actively working with your assigned representatives from The Intern Group, skipping or missing scheduled internship interviews, not engaging in internship discussions with your internship coordinator, not responding to The Intern Group communications in a timely manner, allowing the placement process to be delayed due to missing agreed payment due dates and unreasonably refusing internships offered to you.
(c) If The Intern Group is unable to place you in an internship role in your preference area before the placement deadline, you will be given the option (i) to drop out of the program and receive a refund of your initial deposit and all other program payments made by you (“full refund”), or (ii) to request that The Intern Group continue the search process until you are placed; and if The Intern Group is still unable to place you within the extended time, you will receive a full refund.
(d) However, if you withdraw from the Program for any reason before the placement deadline other than The Intern Group’s failure to place you by the placement deadline in your preferred career fields, or if The Intern Group determines, in its sole discretion, that you did not fully cooperate in the placement process at any time before the placement deadline, The Intern Group will be entitled to 100% of your initial deposit. If you withdraw from the Program for any reason after being placed with a partner organization, The Intern Group will be entitled to 100% of your initial deposit and 50% of the program fee. If notice is received by us less than 21 days before the commencement date, The Intern Group will be entitled to 100% of your initial deposit and 100% of the program fee. All requests for refunds must be received in writing within 30 days of withdrawal.
Our internship programs start every month of the year. So whether you want a summer internship experience or a program that suits you at another time of the year, we have a program for you. We accept applicants on a rolling basis. You are able to apply for your start date as soon as you see it published here. We recommend applying no later than 3 months before your desired start date for visa purposes.
We aim to develop an innovative and culturally sensitive new generation ready to tackle the global issues that affect the world today and tomorrow.
We value adventure, open mindedness, broad horizons and an international mindset. We also value academic excellence and those who think outside the box. We generate a flow of top minds to our partner companies, NGOs, hospitals and governments.
After your child’s interview, our admissions team will be in touch within 3 business days to let them know if they’ve been successful or not.
About The Program
Our internship program is an investment in your future and will give you a substantial advantage. International, blue chip work experience will significantly aid you when searching for long term employment. You will have demonstrated the ability to think outside the box and handle another culture and language while working for a company abroad. Previous interns have also received full-time offers of employment from their host companies on completion of the internship. This, however, cannot be guaranteed.
All nationalities are eligible to apply for our programs. We have hosted participants in all of our destinations from over 80 different countries.

The summer program includes start dates in June and July. This is an extremely popular option amongst our applicants. In some of our locations, accommodation will be different from our standard option that is offered year-round.
Please note that the summer program is a higher cost because of the en-suite rooms and other on site amenities.
For those applying to the London program, please be aware that a refundable damage deposit of £200 may be required upon check-in. This will be refunded upon departure once the room has been checked.
The summer program is a great way to live with a large group of other interns and enjoy a brilliant summer abroad.
We understand that an internship abroad may be a big step, especially if you've never left your town before. Oftentimes, a big city in your home country can provide just as big of a cultural learning opportunity for you. Applicants from within the US are eligible to intern in New York, California, or Chicago for this reason. Similarly, the same applies to interns from China seeking to gain experience in Shanghai.
About The Internship
We do not provide a list of partner companies.
Firstly, our list of partner companies is not static. We often partner with new companies if they would be a better match for a participant. We have dedicated outreach teams, working on our participants’ accounts, in all program destinations, meaning our list of partners is constantly growing and evolving.
Secondly, we do not provide a list as interns then attempt to “pick and choose” which companies they specifically want to work for. This promotes unrealistic expectations, as partner company needs, your wishes and background and external factors such as timing are all taken into account during internship placement. If you are accepted into our program you are guaranteed a great role in your area of interest. However, due to the factors listed above a specific company cannot be guaranteed.
When you apply you are asked to state your primary and secondary career fields (for example, primary preference: Law, secondary preference: Government & Politics). You will be given the chance to discuss and confirm these career fields during the phone or Skype interview with our admissions team.
Successful applicants are guaranteed a professional internship in their primary or secondary career fields. We are highly experienced in internship placement and pride ourselves on successful matches between our participants and our partner companies. All companies we work with are extensively vetted to make sure they provide a rewarding internship experience for our talented participants.
Our confidence in our program is demonstrated by our full money back guarantee.
Our program comes with a full money back guarantee if you are not placed in your primary or secondary career fields – giving you peace of mind that you will have a fantastic internship experience abroad. (Note, however, that we cannot give a refund if you withdraw yourself from the program.)
Although some Spanish knowledge is preferred, due to our extremely strong business links and focus on top partner firms, we are able to offer a variety of first class roles that do not have any Spanish language requirement.
Our programs are competitive and early applications are encouraged. Early applications get primary consideration for the most competitive roles in our extensive network.
After applying to The Intern Group program and booking a convenient interview time, you will have a phone or Skype interview with our admissions team.
In this 20 minute phone or Skype interview we will question you about your background, experience and motivations, and discuss the opportunities available within your career field.
After your interview, you will be informed within 3 business days if you have been successful in your application. Successful applicants will then be formally offered a place in our program. You will be asked to confirm your place in the program by making an initial deposit. This deposit is fully refundable if you are not placed in your primary or secondary career fields– giving you peace of mind that you will have a fantastic internship experience abroad. Note, however, that we cannot give a refund if you withdraw yourself from the program.
Another payment of 50% of your outstanding balance will be due within 30 days after we have received your deposit. Any remainder is due within 21 days after we have confirmed your internship role. Notwithstanding any partial payment deadline previously given, once placement is confirmed, any & all remaining balance becomes due within 21 days. In all cases, all program fees must be paid before you travel to your program destination. Participants who fail to meet this requirement, will receive none of the benefits of the Program. This includes, without limitation; placement in a confirmed Program, airport transfers and accommodation.
We will then introduce you to our team in your internship destination. Our team will engage in a collaborative internship placement process with you. They will prepare you to phone or Skype interview for a well-suited role(s) in your career fields. Interviews will typically be arranged 4-10 weeks prior to your arrival. Your internship role will typically be confirmed 4-6 weeks prior to your arrival (this is a guideline and may differ during peak seasons). We recommend that you book your flights once your internship details are confirmed. You are then all ready for a fantastic experience abroad.
We work with universities around the world to assist their students with academic credit requirements. Please see our academic credit information page for more information.
Travel & Accommodation
You will typically be living with other interns from the program and, occasionally, other international students.
Housemate selection is determined by the time of year, accommodation availability and participants’ program specifics (such as duration of program).
Our focus is to provide a great experience and to manage serious issues before they become a problem.
It is your responsibility to have a nice, harmonious cohabitation. While we will assist in the case of serious problems, we expect all accepted participants to display high levels of independence, responsibility and maturity.
We can only guarantee housing for the duration of your internship program. If you would like to stay longer, it may be possible to arrange this, but your program fee does not cover this cost and you will need to pay the accommodation provider for the extra time that you spend there.
We recommend booking flights as soon as your internship role is confirmed.
This is approximately 4-6 weeks before arrival (please note in peak times this may vary).
Before you depart from your home country, you will be sent a welcome pack that gives you all the information you will need to prepare for your arrival. When you arrive you will be picked up by our trusted driver, taken to your accommodation and met by your experienced coordinator for an induction. If you arrive in your destination after 6pm local time you will meet your coordinator the following morning.
